Raising Cane’s at Universal CityWalk

Landmark-scale DOOH: a digital moment that stops foot traffic and pulls people directly into a client’s store.

Raising Cane’s wanted to establish a landmark-level scale at their newest restaurant at Universal CityWalk Hollywood. But it wasn’t that simple. The location sits within one of the most competitive entertainment corridors in the world. The outside storefront was surrounded by massive signage, attractions, and constant visual noise.

The goal was clear but ambitious: design a single LED display that felt iconic, unmistakably Cane’s, and exciting enough to draw crowds from across CityWalk. This was about more than advertising food. We needed to create a destination moment that matched the energy of the brand and the scale of the environment.

The Concept

We designed a large-scale anamorphic LED experience that transforms the curved building wrap into a three-dimensional stage for Cane’s food. By leveraging forced perspective and precise viewing geometry, the content creates the illusion that Cane’s iconic menu items physically emerge from the building.

Oversized chicken fingers, fries, toast, and Cane’s Sauce were treated like heroes. All pain-stakingly rendered with hyper-real detail and choreographed motion that feels playful, bold, and crave-worthy. From key viewing angles along CityWalk, the imagery appears to break the screen plane, creating a true “did you just see that?” moment.

This approach allowed the display to function as both a billboard and an experience. The living tableau is instantly recognizable, highly shareable, and impossible to ignore – like you would see in Times Square.

The Execution

This project centered on a single, highly customized display, designed specifically for anamorphic viewing:

  • Location: Building wrap above Raising Cane’s flagship restaurant at Universal CityWalk Hollywood
  • Format: Curved anamorphic LED display

The creative execution required close coordination between content design, physical architecture, and guest movement patterns. Our team mapped optimal viewing zones along CityWalk and engineered the forced perspective so the illusion holds from multiple approach angles.

Custom 3D food models were built from scratch to accurately represent Cane’s menu items. Special attention was given to texture, lighting, and motion. We dedicated ourselves to getting the sauce pours and food interactions just right. Fluid simulations were iterated repeatedly to achieve the exact viscosity and movement that felt authentic to the brand.

Every animation beat was tuned to feel energetic without becoming chaotic. This allowed the content to loop continuously while remaining engaging for both passing guests and those who stop to watch with a more thoughtful eye.

Why It Worked

This project succeeded because it treated the LED as architecture in motion.

By designing specifically for anamorphic perspective, the content turns the building itself into part of the illusion. Cane’s food feels larger than life and physically present within the space. The playful tone stays true to the brand. And most importantly, the scale, motion, and clarity command attention in a quite crowded, visually-noisy environment.

The result is a first-of-its-kind digital moment for Raising Cane’s: a landmark installation that draws crowds, sparks social sharing, and sets a new bar for experiential restaurant branding at CityWalk.

With the content experience we created, this LED display became a true beacon for the Raising Cane’s brand.
